WHAT When theatre meets technology possibilities become endless. In Long Distance Affair, someone across the globe is reaching out exclusively to you. What will be the result when you and a perfect stranger meet with only a computer screen between you? WHERE LaGuardia Performing Arts Center The Mainstage Theatre 31-10 Thomson Ave. Long Island City, NY 11101 Directions: Take the 7 train to 33rd/Rawson or the E,G,V,R trains to Queens Plaza 10 minutes from Grand Central Station HOW In this one-on-one Skype show each audience member checks in with a PopUp receptionist at the LPAC and is guided to a computer station. On the other side of the screen, awaits a performance in another part of the world just for you. Each audience experiences 3 affairs a ticket. Only 15 audience members each night can be accommodated. QUERÉTARO, MEXICO
What level of intimacy can you aspire to when all the information you receive comes through a computer screen? 18 artists from 6 countries decide to take this virtual adventure and bring it to an audience of 48 participants in Querétaro Mexico. Each virtual "affair" is performed for (and with) only one audience member at a time.
Long Distance Affair: Querétaro is possible through the partnership with El Centauro Mecánico and at the invitation of the Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro and the 7° Festival Cultural Universitario Tecnología-Exceso de Presente.
THE COUNTRIES: Romania, US, Germany, Spain, Australia, Mexico.
