We are thrilled to create INSIDE here in New York City on the Close of The Cathedral of St John the Divine, the largest Episcopal Cathedral in the world and a landmark of New York City.
A project first created in Madrid in 2013 and then in Bucharest in 2014, INSIDE, an immersive from PopUP Theatrics asks you to travel through non public spaces on the campus of the majestic Cathedral of St. John the Divine as you and your companion witness one world with your eyes and another unfolds in your head.
In a present reigned by "alternative facts", INSIDE explores the deep mechanisms of manipulation, posing the question "how much of what you experience is affected by the voices in your head, being those media, social media or family inherited beliefs." Both prior editions had amazing press and the Bucharest one brought us the Jury Award at The Romanian Independent Theatre Festival.
INSIDE continues PopUP's mission to create site responsive theatre, in international collaborations that proposes a new relationship between the spectator, space and the performer.

INSIDE HOTEL INTERCONTINENTAL MADRID - 2013
May 2013 PopUP traveled to Madrid to launch INSIDE at the glamorous Hotel InterContinental. The scheme was to give audience members the opportunity to enter into familiar territory while granting unprecedented access to unseen spaces within the location. Audience members traveled in pairs through hidden spaces of a familiar location while stumbling upon situations in which they are privy to the internal thoughts and motivations of the characters surrounding them -and all this--through a voice INSIDE their own heads! PLAYWRIGHTS: Ella Greenhill (UK) ,Cristina Colmena (SPAIN/USA) , Mario Tardón (SPAIN) DIRECTORS: Ana Margineanu and Tamilla Woodard (POPUP THEATRICS, NYC) , Darío Facal (SPAIN),Lucía Miranda (SPAIN) CAST:Gina Laline, David Laguía , Jorge Clemente , Elisa Abión , Iria Lamas Alsina , Mario Alonso , Patricia Fuertes, Pablo Romón, Laura Calero, Pruden Rayo, Arianna Fortes "If the theater already is in and of itself three-dimensional, this is like the leap to the 4th dimension" SERGIO C. FANJUL, El País "INSIDE is magic, comedy, drama, suspense, intrigue, playfulness...it is dialogue, corporal expression, storytelling... it is a complete whole, perfect, circular, impressive." Woman Word.com INSIDE MTR BUCHAREST 2014

"I have never lived such a theatrical experience. I laughed, I was scared, I got emotional, I was nervous, I was curious, and I felt sad it was over. Thank you!" -Crina "I cryed... My heart rushed... very hard, very hard....my palms got sweaty.... my knees started shaking... i drank cherry wine (very good!). My nose started running... all because of the emotions I was feeling!!!! BRAVO! THANK YOU!" -Claudia "I silently applauded you after every moment.... You have to do it again, do it again, do it again, for more people to see it, and for those who saw it already to see it again... BRAVOOOO!!!" Andreea " ... theatre in a new dimension -- excellent show! i discovered a new face of the Peasant Museum" Cristina, May 19th AND here's some love from the critics too: " ... theatre in a new dimension -- excellent show! i discovered a new face of the Peasant Museum" Cristina, May 19th "INSIDE is not only a journey within the unknown spaces of MTR (The Museum of Romanian Peasant), but into the very delicate construction of the artistic intimacy, so one of the goals or one of the effects is the transformation of the audience member into an active viewer. (...) The theatre, as conceived by the authors of this show, is a complete experience, a personal experience, so private that is not transmissible." Iulia Popovici, The Cultural Observer "INSIDE is a foray into the miraculous side of the national identity. After being a part of this journey you understand that any reality has it's share of magic" Oana Stoica,The Dilemma (The spectators) "They will laugh, sing, dance, listen, talk, explore. They will watch the actors, touch them, avoid them, run away from them. They will become part of the scene, of the scenery. The show will be constructed around them, from them, with them."
